An objective statement lets your potential employer know what what you are looking for in a job, as well as what you can offer the company. Objective statements have become a little controversial over the past few years as employers have started looking for what you have to offer, instead of what you want. While some people argue that objective statements should be left out completely, others having simple found ways to write a more meaningful resume objective statement.

Writing a Meaningful Resume Objective Statement

1.Avoid Generic/Meaningless Statements

There are a wide variety of generic statements that are used in objective statements, and employers see them everyday. Avoid statements like, “a challenging and rewarding position” or “opportunity for advancement”. First, employers assume that you are looking for a position that is both rewarding and challenging. Second, since so many people use these phrases, employers are likely to assume that you are just like everyone else, and no one wants to hire someone that can’t stand out from the crowd.

2.Don’t Limit Yourself From Other Opportunities

While resume objective statements should not be generic, they should also not limit yourself from other opportunities within the company. One of the easiest ways to limit yourself is by stating that you are looking for “an entry level position”. If the position that you applied for is already filled, there is little chance that you will be considered for a more advanced position. Additionally, try not to use the exact job title in the objective statement, for the same reason.

3.Don’t Forget Your Audience

It is always important to remember who is reading your resume. Your potential employer already assumes that you want the position that you are applying for, otherwise you wouldn’t apply for it. With this in mind, it is important to use the objective statement to let the employer know what you can do for them. Think of the objective statement as a headline. It needs to grab the attention of the readers, and make them want to read more.

4.Short and Sweet

Remember, and objective statement is just that; a statement. It is important to choose your words wisely in order to keep your statement short, yet poignant. If an objective statement becomes to long, it will lose its emphasis as well as the readers attention. You have your entire resume to impress your potential employer, don’t try and do it all in your objective statement.

5.Be Consistent

If you mention a certain quality of skill in your objective statement, it had better be featured in the resume. It is surprising how many people mention a positive feature in the objective statement, but it is nowhere to be found throughout the resume. One way to solve this problem is to always write your objective statement last. This is especially important when applying to multiple openings simultaneously, because if you are tailoring your resume to each position (which you should be) then the objective statement will not match the resume if left unaltered.

While objective statements are not recommended by everyone, a meaningful well written objective statement will only benefit you. As long as you know what to do, it is easy to write a meaningful resume objective statement.

i know someone who may be making false documentaion….
she is 23 and is a 10th grade dropout and has always work in a low salary wages and not so good jobs like ; dept store cashier, cell phone reps and at times no job the last job paid 7.00hr and only last at a job for a year other then that no longer! she has 2 kids.
she has in writing and taking to court stating that she IS a drop out and was in 10th grade and her last job was a 7.00 wage and in Vocational Training for a Inst. as a Administrative Medical Assistant.
CAN THIS BE TRUE!!!!!!!!
and no medical school or MA certified.

What is your issue here? If she got a GED, she could certainly be in a vocational training program now, or some training programs allow a student to earn their GED and then continue into the actual program.
Sounds like this woman may be trying to better herself with an education. More power to her for that. It can’t be easy with her past academics, lack of finances, and kids to care for. Why aren’t you cheering for her efforts to improve her options and her working life?
I don’t get this at all. . . .what is the problem?

If you think that the recruiting managers only focus on the resumes, then think again. In fact, it is your job application cover letter that makes an impact and brings you plenty of job interviews.

Cover letter is the most important element in a job search process as it allows you to promote yourself directly to a perspective employer. It helps to create a good first impression so that you have a chance to step foot into the company.

Cover letter tells a future employer a lot about an individual. You should leverage and get the most out of it. You cover letter will reveal:

- the source of the advert and position you are applying for
- an overview of your professional experience, skill set and qualifications
- your eagerness to work for the company and the job
- how you can add value to the future company
- your personality
- your communication skills
- your attention to details (through any pitfalls with your letter)

Since the job application cover letter is your own sales letter, your aim is to make a good impression. Your cover letter has to stand out from the crowd and impress the hiring manager to explore more about you. This happens if your application package is among the four or five to be picked up.

Here are some tips to help you craft an effective letter.

1) Make it personal
Address the letter to a specific contact. If you write “Dear Mr. Peterson,” and the likelihood of Mr. Peterson to get past the salutation is very low. He will probably place your application package on top of the others. Therefore, you need to research the company’s website or call the human resource department to identify the specific person responsible for hiring.

2) Be concise and to the point
A hiring manager will not usually have time to go through resumes from all the applicants as well as their life stories in the cover letters. Therefore, your job application cover letter will have to be brief and concise, and highlight the important points form your resume. Make use of two to three paragraphs to promote and impress the hiring manager to call for next action — the job interview. You can also use the cover letter to explain any gap between the job requirement and your professional experience, but avoid turning your cover letter into a CV.

3) Your value to the company’s goals
Research the company’s goals and objectives, the mission statement and the latest news. Emphasize how you can contribute to the company. You can cite your past accomplishments and relate them to the job requirement.

4) Avoid pitfalls
You may have put in a lot of time and effort in preparing the letter. However, any mistakes found can lead to an immediate rejection of your application. The recruiting personnel will try to use the pitfalls to gauge your behaviors for how much you’re paying attention to details. You need to proofread your work to ensure there is absolutely no grammatical, spelling and punctuation error. Also, make sure you get all the contact information right.

An effective job application cover letter does impact the result of your job application. Those who put in serious effort in this part of the job search process will definitely secure more interviews. Having more interviews will increase the chance for getting the job that you desire.

Are you a jerk? As a hiring manager, this is the one question that I wish I could ask, straight up! That’s because, frankly, I’ve met applicants with serious attitude problems in the hundreds of interviews I’ve conducted.

In fact, in my 25 years as a hiring manager, I’ve occasionally hired someone who was eminently qualified as far as the specific technical skills were concerned, but who later turned out to be, well…a jerk. And the thing about jerks is that they can be very good at concealing that trait in a job interview, especially if they are otherwise very qualified.

Even if the “jerk factor” comes through in the interview, if they are the most experienced and qualified applicant – it’s very tempting to overlook problem personalities and hire them for their experience. And it’s always a mistake.

It’s a mistake because jerks, once their true color comes out after you’ve hired them, will invariably create morale issues for your group and can quickly destroy the reputation that the hiring manager has so carefully built up with customers. You can have a department full of angels and it only takes one jerk to make them all look bad.

This is why hiring managers try very had to avoid these types of people, but we can be fooled. Some applicants are extremely good at coming across as sincere and likable during the interview, even though their true personality is the exact opposite. We’ve all met people like this. They are very pleasant and personable…until you get to really know them.

The thing is, a good hiring manager can pretty easily pick up whether or not you have the specific experience and technical skills for the job. Whether it’s a high-level technology position or a simple administrative assistant position, we know the right questions to ask to probe for the proper skills and expertise. An experienced hiring manager will usually be able to pretty accurately assess is you have the specific job skills needed to perform the required duties.

Ah, but the soft skills, that’s a much more difficult thing to assess in an interview. This is where you have to go based on your gut instinct and how the applicant comes across in person. Many hiring managers call this the “likability factor”, which of course is the opposite of the “jerk factor”. Do you have a good attitude, a positive outlook on things, are you friendly, do you get along well with people, are you dependable, trustworthy? These are the soft skills that all hiring managers want.

Most experienced hiring managers who have been burned by hiring jerks are particularly tuned in to trying to get a read on these soft skills in the interview. They know that if you are light on the technical skills but solid otherwise, you can always be trained. But you pretty much either have the soft skills or you don’t. You can’t really teach someone to be positive and get along well with people. In other words, you can’t “unteach” a jerk to not be one.

In fact, the more experienced the hiring manager, the more they would rather miss a good person than hire a bad one.

So the question is, how do you show the hiring manager that you aren’t a jerk?

Simply put, avoid demonstrating any of these three personality traits in your interview: arrogant, condescending, and patronizing. These three traits will be the kiss of death in an interview with an experienced hiring manager.

No matter how much more you think you know than the hiring manager, no matter how much better you perceive yourself to be than the hiring manger, you simply cannot display that in an interview. The hiring manager will automatically assume that if you come across this way in the interview, when a job rides on the outcome, you will come across even stronger to your co-workers once you are on the job.

In other words, you’ll turn out to be a jerk.

The bottom line here is you have to make an effort to have yourself perceived as being friendly, positive, and likable in the interview. And hopefully, you really are!

When you are getting serious about landing a teaching job abroad you need to consider how you are going to do it. Are you going to register with a international teaching job fair organizer like Search-Associates? Are you going to register with The International Educator (TIE) and get international teaching job alerts emailed to you daily? Are you going to trawl the internet for vacancies?

Whichever strategy or combination of strategies you choose to implement you will need to write an effective cover letter that sells you as the ideal candidate.

A great cover letter draws the recruiter in and leads them through your information and inspires them to look at your resume. It introduces you, outlines your experience and states why you are the best candidate for their position.

When writing your cover letter keep these suggestions in mind and you will increase the effectiveness of your letter:

Differentiate

While most recruiters are clued up enough to know that you are probably applying to more than just their international school, it is not good practice to make it obvious. When you write your cover letter you should include a sentence or two about why you want to teach at their school. Reasons you may include are; you have experience in the curricula offered, your children have experience in the curricula offered, you like teaching in small (big, single sex, co-ed) schools, or you have heard positive things about the school from other international teachers.

When you are differentiating you letter, address it to the recruiter if you can find their name on the website or from the advertisement and include the name of the school and location. These small, easy to implement ideas are the key to making each recruiter feel special and show them that you are interested in a job at ‘their’ school.

Be Selective and Adjust Accordingly

If you are job hunting as a teaching couple you need to have a couple of cover letters, or have paragraphs that you can cut and paste to make sure it is targeted. As a teaching couple you will ideally want to get a job at a school that has vacancies in your main teaching subjects. However, you may not be so lucky.

Teaching couples should lead with the strongest candidate and emphasize the experience and flexibility of the other teacher. For example, if you are a teaching couple with secondary maths and an elementary generalist you can apply for schools with openings in either of these areas. For an international school with a vacancy in the elementary school you would outline this person’s experience first and then you would discuss the maths teacher’s experience both in maths, in leadership, in extra curricula activities, etc. And vice versa if you find a school that has a maths vacancy. Often school recruiters will do some ‘creative shuffling’ if they find a teaching couple they think will suit the school especially well.

Short is Best

Keep your cover letter short; leave it to the other sections of your application pack to detail your education, experience and philosophy. The function of the cover letter is to provide a brief introduction of yourself and enough information to motivate the international school recruiter to read your resume.

If you have heard of the PowerPoint rule of 6 points per slide, 6 words per point then you will find this rule easy to understand and work with:

3-4 paragraphs, 2-3 sentences per paragraph.

If you are submitting your application by email, it needs to be even shorter because we have a lower tolerance for reading on a computer screen.

Here are just three ideas for making your cover letter more effective. Even if you have a cover letter already prepared, dig it out and check that it meets these criteria, you may be surprised at how more likely a recruiter is to read your resume if you follow these suggestions.

I qualify for financial aid 100% through FAFSA and I am interested in Medical Billing or Administrative assistant fields.
I am extremely tight financially (part/full time job $180-220 a week) and do not have a car.
Can anyone suggest a trade school or an online college course or something that I can do in order to get some type of training/degree and work in these fields?
Also, the quicker the better – Going to college for 4 years isnt an option. Please let me know :)

My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.). Too often people enroll in the first school they find rather than taking the time to find the best school for them. Taking that time now could save you a lot of time, money and frustration if you choose the wrong school.
This site has some good info on regionally accredited online degrees in the medical field and some colleges that offer them to help expand your search:http://www.ecollegefinder.org/associate-…
I think you can enter your info on there for any colleges you are interested in and they will send you more info for free. Good Luck!

Endodontist Educational Requirements

To step into the field of endodontics, you need to complete a post graduate program in endodontics from a reputed dental studies institute or university. This should be coupled up with an advanced training in endodontics, through a training program accredited by the American Dental Association. Further, you also need to obtain a state license or a license from local concerned authorities to work as an endodontist. This is the educational criteria for most the health care organizations hiring endodontist. However, for some organizations, a graduate degree in endodontics might suffice. Besides formal studies, an endodontist should be patient friendly, a good communicator and must have updated knowledge on the latest trends and techniques in dentistry. A minimum of 1-2 years of experience as an endodontist, in any dental organizations is considered as an added advantage for a good job.

Average Salary of an Endodontist

Endodontist income depends upon the size of the organizations or the number of patients, he deals with, if he is pursuing independent practice. It also varies from state to state. On an average the basic pay (exclusive of all other remunerations) of a less experienced or entry level endodontist is around USD 27000, while the basic pay of a moderately experienced endodontist is somewhere around USD 33000 – USD 35000. Before ending our discussion on endodontist salary range, I would like to say that, be it endodontics or anything else, hospital jobs are not ordinary jobs! Apart from education, experience and knowledge, these require a caring nature and strong commitment towards the treatment of patients. Remember, this is the the only key to a successful medical career!!
