Tip #1 – Make Sure Someone Else Can Do Your Job

As unintuitive as this might seem, an important part of getting a job promotion is ensuring that someone else can do your job. If the no one can, then you cannot be replaced; and cannot get promoted.

Tip #2 – Timing is Important

When it comes to getting a promotion at work, few things are more important than timing. Being in the right place at the right time and saying the right things is vital. And this is why you must pay careful attention to your timing. Sometimes timing includes being prepared for a promotion. When circumstances meet preparation, then opportunity is created.

Tip #3 – Don’t Ask Questions if You Can Answer Them Yourself

One thing the successful do well is to solve problems themselves, rather than burdening others with them. If you want a promotion, you have to learn how to do this, too.

Tip #4 – Do More than is Asked of You

Whenever you are given a project at work, make it a point to over-deliver on all of the requirements. Make the boss appreciate your work; and make her have a vested interest in promoting you.

Tip #5 – Follow the Approach of Your Manager

If you want an example of how to get promoted, look no further than your own manager. She has been promoted to a position above you, so she knows how to be successful in your position.

Tip #6 – Consider Why You Want the Promotion

Being prepared is important. For instance, next time you’re in the elevator with your boss or with a higher-up, you will want to be prepared if your boss asks you something about a new job opening or a possible promotion. Have reasons ready for why you want the promotion and why you would fit well in the position.

Tip #7 – Observe Successful Co-Workers

Pay attention to co-workers who are especially good at their jobs. What is it that enables them to be so efficient? And what is it that elicits so much praise from upper management? Copy these qualities and you should see the same results.

Tip #8 – Be Scrappy

Scrappiness is an important trait of those who are successful. No matter how badly the road to success treats them, they take their lumps and then return to the path. Ultimately, they prevail because they refuse to do anything else.

Tip #9 – Make Your Boss Look Good

Another thing that the successful know how to do is to make the boss look good. This is especially true if you can do it in front of her superiors or a partner from another business. Your boss will appreciate this; and will want to do what she can to ensure that you are around to help her again.

Tip #10 – Befriend the HR Department

Make a friend in human resources. Next time there is a job opening in the works, you will be one of the first people to find out about it.

It was long feared that the aging of the baby boomer generation would bring about a healthcare crisis in the United States, and our nation’s politicians have planned accordingly. Cuts to Medicare and Medicaid benefits have been implemented several times over the last decade, and congress has recently proposed a package that would reduce benefits 40% over the next 9 years, while raising premiums 20%. Still, every cloud seems to indeed have a silver lining, as one positive to result from the increased burden to the health care system can be seen in the number of health industry jobs projected to become available over the next ten years. In the next ten years, the single fastest growing employment sector in the U.S. will be in gerontology and senior healthcare.

Still, a new problem emerges when considering the supply of trained healthcare workers vs. the number of adults whose aging is expected to increase the population of the 55 to 65 year old category over the next decade. Worker shortages for the healthcare industry are inevitable, which means career opportunities will be not only plentiful, but more lucrative overall as a result.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, healthcare related jobs are expected to grow faster than the national average for all other industries through 2014 and likely beyond. The nursing field, in particular, is the second fastest-growing occupation for job growth over the next decade. The number of current nursing professionals approaching retirement is growing far faster than the number of nursing program graduates, and recruitment efforts by healthcare organizations are already underway. Nursing salaries have risen substantially over the last several years, and increases are expected as competition for workers becomes more prevalent. Sign on bonuses that were once unheard of are now commonplace, and those entering the field have more options than ever in terms of the type of facility they wish to work in.

Home health care aid positions are expected to rise as well, with more and more Americans choosing to forgo assisted living options and instead remain independent. Jobs on the administrative end of the healthcare industry are also on the rise as insurance companies brace for the tide of health claims expected to hit the industry. As with all employment sectors that have a limited supply of qualified personnel and an increasing demand for them, wages and salaries will continue to rise until positions are filled.

Those entering college or technical school programs can find increased salary potential and job security in the healthcare sector. While the price of health care is rising, so are the potential employment opportunities in an industry that will struggle to meet the demands of the current aging population.

LPN careers offer a working environment where they can learn the ropes of working in a health care industry. They are under the guidance and supervision of registered nurses and even doctors. LPN careers, in this way, are somewhat like trainee positions that prepare them for the more demanding jobs.

Learning on the job is assured with a License Practical Nurse careers! You have hands-on training and direct involvement in patient care. If you’re curious about how acupuncture works, and you’ve got a fascination with the ancient Chinese techniques, it’s likely you’d be interested in learning how to do the procedures yourself. You can do this by enrolling in an acupuncture training program or even a general medical program which offers courses in alternative therapies.

If you start looking for schools, you’ll be surprised to find out how very few schools are actually accredited to teach acupuncture techniques. In the U.S. there are only around 50 schools you can attend to become certified as an acupuncturist.

An alternative way to get the training you would need is to find a certified Chinese doctor who practices here in America and will agree to give you a formal acupuncture education. There are thousands of Chinese citizens here who know the techniques, and they will be able to tell you where you can find such a doctor to help you.

To start with, however, you should ask people you know, including your family doctor, to get an idea of what school you could attend to get your training. In addition, by using a search engine to look for acupuncture training, you can find websites that list schools which give accredited training. You can look through them and see where they offer the quickest, easiest, and most affordable training. It will be worth your while to seek your certification, because once you have it you’ll be able to work in alternative therapy clinics or even start a practice of your own.

Actually, once you learn the techniques, you don’t have to be accredited to practice them. However, you’ll find that if you have certification, potential patients will consider you a professional acupuncture therapist and put their trust in you. So, if you want to begin a successful practice, you should make sure that you get yourself properly trained in advance. There are a lot of fake practitioners in business, and you want to make sure to set yourself apart from them.

Before signing up for any training program, you’ll want to call and visit with someone at several schools so you can ask then a lot of questions. You’ll want to know how long the program runs until certification, how much it will cost, and the type of classes they offer. You’ll definitely want something that features a lot of hands-on training, because that’s the best way to learn any technique.

As we mentioned earlier, with only fifty or so programs available in the United States, it’s likely you’ll have to travel quite a distance to receive the training you need. You may want to ask if there are any scholarships available to help you offset both the cost of the training and travel expenses. You’ll also find that if you decide you really want to continue your acupuncture and Chinese medicine training, there are even Master’s programs offered at some schools.

It doesn’t really matter what type of program you choose, as long as you become accredited. Acupuncture is becoming more popular each year, because our Western culture has finally begun to realize the merits of the treatment. Therefore, it is a field that is wide open with opportunities for anyone who decides to become certified, which might just as well be you!
