There are many reasons that encourages one to join the navy. People consider it a noble decision and a decision influenced by patriotism. Those who want to serve their country in some or the other way, also opt for the navy. There are rigorous physical and mental training activities that you need to participate in, which make you ever alert, a quick-thinker who can make correct decisions, good at self-defense, and this has a positive effect on your personality. If you are in the navy, people respect and honor you just for the reason that you are a navy personnel. The navy takes care of its sailors in the best way possible. The best medical facilities are provided to all naval personnel. Some individuals may get into this field, just because of the fact that many in their family have been a part of the navy for years, as a family tradition.

One can work on and learn about the latest cutting-edge technology in the world which is used by the navy. He may develop skills that could prove useful in his future endeavors. The US navy offers accommodation and housing provisions, free dining services or food allowances, and uniform allowances to ensure the uniforms are in top condition. Moreover, some duty stations provide sailors with ‘Cost of Living Allowances’ (COLAs). Apart from the regular pay and benefits, some recruits become eligible for cash bonus programs which depend on your level of education and the chosen field, like the ‘Montgomery G.I. Bill’ and ‘Navy Tuition Assistance’. After retirement from the service, the navy still provides assistance to you as a navy veteran. You will enjoy most of the benefits which are provided to an on-duty navy personnel.
